Southern Alberta Institute of Technology: Advancing Construction’s Future Workforce

To help address the ongoing labour shortage, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) is making strides to attract more young people to the skilled trades. Our team spoke with SAIT faculty members and staff to see what’s being done to attract more youth to the program, and how SAIT — through its partnership with Procore.org — is preparing students for digital workflows on construction jobsites. Read the article here.

We arranged a discussion between Dr. Reva Bond, Dean of SAIT’s School of Construction, and Electrical Industry News Week about how to retain more women in trades and the importance of government, post-secondary and industry coming together to solve the labour shortage issue. We also set up an interview for Dr. Bond with Canadian Press to further explore the topic and why it is crucial to focus on retention, beyond recruitment. Read this article (CTV News).

Thought Leadership Articles for Cradlepoint in Mining and Emergency Services

To help increase thought leadership and educate important verticals about Cradlepoint in Canada, we prioritize placing bylined articles with key industry publications. 5G and IoT applications are current hot topics, so for Blue Line Magazine, we recently covered important trends for emergency services to consider in the connected vehicles space. In Canadian Mining Magazine, we highlighted the impact of wireless on the industry and how private cellular networks can support improved processes, increased safety and more on sites.

Raising Awareness of Black Physicians’ Association of Ontario

We recently worked with the Black Physicians’ Association of Ontario (BPAO) to raise awareness of their mandate, the work they have done and their Annual Health Symposium in Toronto.

The BPAO works for equitable representation of the Black population in medicine and to ensure racialized health disparities are eliminated.

Read in NOW Toronto why Ontario Black doctors continue to call for more representation in the health-care system. Watch the discussion with BPAO’s president Dr. Andrew Thomas and executive director Chenai Kadungure on The Dr. Vibe Show to find out why it is important to have more Black physicians in the province. Dr. Thomas also talked about the need for more Black Canadians in health care on CP24 Breakfast.

Construction Trends for 2023

Every January, we’re eager to work with Procore to look ahead and share predictions for the construction industry. The 2022 trends podcast with The Construction Record was one of the top 5 pods of the year! We arranged for Procore to look ahead again for 2023

Read about the Canadian construction trends for 2023 (e.g. Heavy Equipment Guide, Crane & Hoist Canada, Le monde de l’électricité). We also invited media to attend a panel discussion with Canadian Construction Association and experts at Fairmont Royal York in Toronto. Panelists were modestly optimistic for 2023 and said the construction sector shouldn’t fear recession. In the first six weeks of the year, we’ve secured 30+ articles around the topic in the media and association newsletters.

Aptum: The Cloud Journey

More and more companies are concerned about how cloud spending can snowball. We arranged an interview for Aptum with Jared Lindzon at the Globe and Mail to discuss ways for SMBs to control cloud costs.

Recently, Aptum strengthened its hybrid multi-cloud MSP position with the acquisition of CloudOps. We worked with both organizations’ leaders to meet with IT analysts (e.g. read the insights from Info-Tech) and media (BetaKit, IT World Canada, eChannelNews) to speak about why they joined forces and how the move will extend their ability to serve their customers at different stages of their cloud journey.

Newsjacking for Waze: Traffic & Weather

As we wrapped up the year, we explored how traffic patterns changed in 2022 compared to 2021 when most of the country was still in lock-down. We worked with Waze to pull traffic data and found many Canadians have returned to the roads (Driving.ca). In some cities, office commutes experienced a huge jump (Hamilton Spectator/Toronto Star: Office commutes in Hamilton jump by 161 per cent over 10 months). Navigation to Niagara Falls increased by 94% in August 2022 compared to July (MobileSyrup). We arranged for Waze’s Andrew Stober to chat with Elias Makos on Montreal’s CJAD800 – In Transit – about traffic in the city.

Of course, we can’t talk about Canada in December without mentioning our winter weather. Right before Ontario’s first major snow storm in December, we reminded drivers about Waze’s unplowed road feature if they must venture out (Wheels.ca, Cambridge Today, Toronto Caribbean Newspaper).

Expanding Trilliant Awareness Globally

We recently helped Trilliant expand their awareness globally at two industry conferences: DISTRIBUTECH 2022 in the U.S. and Enlit Asia in Thailand.
