Cisco Empowers Indigenous Communities and Underserved Regions with Digital Skills
TakingITGlobal has been awarded $2.5 million of Government of Canada CanCode funding to create the Code to Learn and Create to Learn programs that nurture IT skills in indigenous and underserved communities. Cisco Canada and TakingITGlobal Deliver Digital Education to Indigenous Students
Cisco Canada and TakingITGlobal partnered with the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) to launch the Connected North program in an urban school for the first time. Students from the First Nations School of Toronto connected with their peers thousands of kilometres away, using Cisco TelePresence® videoconferencing technology, to learn about Indigenous culture and history. StrategicAmpersand secured several media to attend the launch resulting in coverage from Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN), NOW Magazine and InsideToronto.com.
